Smirnov Design in cooperation with the Innovation Center of the Russian Olympic Committee, I. M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University,
R&D SportMedPribor and Master Media Soft LLC (USA) designed ScanMe Device for comprehensive assessment of the functional body parameters.
ScanMe Device tests the physical condition of a person with the help of special equipment and then automatically generates a report on 93 indicators:
state of cardiovascular, nervous and respiratory systems, as well as of musculoskeletal system, etc.
The device processes and displays the received data in the form of graphs and tables.
Based on the results of the examination, the user receives a body state report and recommendations on fitness training and physical procedures.
Our team was faced with the task to develop a new design of ScanMe Device that meets the modern trends in the field of sports equipment and takes into account the ergonomics and specifics of the device equipment.
We studied the previous version of ScanMe 1.0 and identified problems in its ergonomics and testing scenarios. For example, the operator and the test-taker had to move from place to place, which affected the test accuracy.
We have moved on to hot prototyping from the stage of analysis and hypothesis, working on several concepts in parallel. Taking into account the research work, the final visual image solution and technical characteristics was built up. The closed device structure allows to place equipment around the test-taker, which prevents their entangling and makes it possible to conduct the test comfortably for both the test-taker and the operator.
The device can be reoriented to the right or to the left side, depending on the customer preferences and the room functionality. An important factor is the ability to replace the equipment used (e.g. if necessary, you can replace the simulator or use the customer’s available one).
The main challenge we faced was the aggressive duration. Within two months of work, we conducted research, prepared concepts, and brought them to the production of the first samples.
We have already taken into account the technological limitations of the manufacturing process when designing. The product design was created in such a way as to be open enough, but at the same time to create a feeling of security for the person inside the complex. The closed shape of the frame with the roof helped to solve this contradiction.
ScanMe Device for the complex assessment of functional body parameters was presented at the Moscow International Fitness Festival 2015.
Now, you can see ScanMe Devices in World Class and X-fit fitness centers
