SMIRNOV DESIGN PRESENTATION
Smirnov Design’s story starts in 1994. This year, a series of electrotechnical products was designed and put into production, the sales of which are now measured in tens of millions of pieces.
Today, we have more than 700 projects for Russian and global brands in such areas as healthcare and security, household appliances and electronics, communications and transportation.
The 90s were a time of learning and gaining experience for us.
Although already at this time we designed such sales hits as Barrier Grand.
2003
The year 2003 became a starting point for a new direction, Smirnov Technologies was created, which closed the cycle of services for the new products preparation and production.
2006
In 2006, Sergey Smirnov, the founder and the head of the company, became an expert of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation on the issues of design development. Also in 2006, Smirnov Design concluded a strategic partnership with DesignContinuum, one of the world’s leaders in the design industry.
2007
In 2007, Smirnov Design participated in the XII St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
Also in 2007, the company is conducting the first in the world project on design research of the Russian market on demand of Samsung Electronics.
2008
In 2008, Zheltaya Gora design studio, which is engaged in branding, corporate identity development and packaging design, joined Smirnov Design Group of Companies and Smirnov Technologies.
Since 2008, Sergey Smirnov has also been a member of the expert club of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
2009
Since 2009, all three companies have been merged into the SmirnovProductDevelopment Group of Companies, which became the first in the Russian market to carry out the full cycle from research and strategy, product design and branding development stage to the design and prototyping, as well as mold making, tooling and production of finished products.
2013
In 2013, the Medical Transportation Splint Project performed at Smirnov Design was for the first time awarded the prestigious international RED DOT Award.
2014
And in 2014, we repeated this achievement with the project of Medical Wire Separators. In 2014, Sergey Smirnov joined the Engineering and Industrial Design Council under the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. Smirnov Design continued to expand its list of competencies.
2015
In 2015, the first version of RONAVI logistics robot, fully designed by the company’s specialists, was demonstrated at Open Innovations.
2016
In 2016, Smirnov Design opened the Research and Innovation Center of Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Design and Applied Arts on the basis of the company’s, specialists and Smirnov Design office moved to Stroganovka.
The center deals not only with industrial design and engineering, but also with robotics and artificial intelligence.
2017
In 2017, Smirnov Design Projects won several more awards. There are ISPO AWARD for the RESERO project and the First Moscow Design Biennale Award for the AERO project among them.
2018
In 2018, the company’s projects received two more RED DOT awards and one IF DESIGN AWARD. Since 2018, Smirnov Design became the Skolkovo Common Use Center.
2019
2019 is a year, when Saint appears. Saint studio is a company satellite of Smirnov Design. The Saint company specializes in communicative design, creates brand identity, printing, websites and advertising videos. This year Smirnov Design is developing the direction of aircraft design. Projects created: Gemini drone for Geoscan, vertical takeoff and landing aircraft Veter and other projects.
2020
In 2020, Sergey Smirnov, with the support of Smirnov Design, is actively developing the direction of copyright protection services for the entire design community on the rdc.club portal. In the year of the pandemic, Smirnov design steadily develops projects remotely. In 2020, the world’s first functioning prototype of augmented reality helmet was released, where all optical tasks were solved. Smirnov Design becomes a member of WDO and ASID.
